One of the most crucial safety features of any vehicle is the car windshield. The windshield functions as a protective barrier. Not only that, but it also provides the driver with a line of sight of the road ahead.

While seemingly straightforward, there is more to windshields than meets the eye. Case in point: if you are considering auto glass repair, you have to choose among different options—dealer glass, aftermarket glass, and OEM glass.

Dealer Glass

Dealer glass is the glass that is purchased from the vehicle dealer. Dealer glass is created to the exact specification as the original equipment manufacturer glass (OEM). However, it has one difference: the former is marketed by the dealers themselves.

Aftermarket Glass

This is similar to off-brand OEM glass. This type is considered more affordable compared to the other types. Others consider this as the equivalent of OEM glass.

OEM Glass

The car manufacturers themselves make this type. Original equipment manufacturer glass is made specifically to fit the vehicle’s make and model. As such, OEM glass is guaranteed to fit perfectly.

Which One Should You Go For?

Most car enthusiasts opt for OEM glass. Others who are not too particular typically choose dealer glass. Aftermarket glass is often the option for those looking for something cost-effective. Check the infographic below to find out more.
